One of the questions I am asked most often is:
‘Can I still Mastermind even though I’m not a coach?’

My name is Liz Scully. I’ve been training Mastermind coaches for a long time now. I’m in Masterminds for over 9 years.

This is a delightful world and

you don’t have to be a coach to run Masterminds.

As long as you are used to helping your clients make decisions and guiding them through that process, you’re already coaching. Even though you don’t think of it as coaching.

When we help people decide to sift through choices, that’s a form of coaching. So, as long as you do that, and almost all service providers do, you’ll be fine in Masterminds.

Obviously, you need some training, you need a framework – and that I also provide -, but the basic ‘I’m not a coach. Can I do this?’ actually you’re fine. You don’t need to be a coach. I’ll show you how to get the best out of people.

And coaching is a learned skill, but it’s often a skill that’s just a certificate on top of years of life experience.

So, yes you go into a coaching certificate, but as you’re doing this – I know this happened to me – I realised I’ve been coaching for years. I’ve been bringing on members of staff, I’ve been managing my team, I’ve been managing the clients, all of that is part of the same thing.

So yes, you can run a Mastermind as long as you have a Framework to work with.

Yes, you can run Masterminds without being officially a coach.
