My name is Liz Scully. I’m a business strategist. And I run Mastermind groups and teach people how to run them. I have a Mastermind framework and I fix slightly broken Masterminds for other coaches.

Masterminds are truly what my business is about.

And if you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll have seen me talk a lot about curation. It’s one of those buzz words. But what does it actually mean?

And curation is the key to a good Mastermind. Sometimes you’ll have seen people launch a Mastermind and there’s no application, you go straight through to the buy page. Which means they accept pretty much anyone.

And just like a bar that takes anybody that comes through the door you get a real mix of people. Most of them are probably lovely, some of them might be kind of assholes. So, be very careful.

Curation is super important.

I make sure that people are not only a great fit for the program but a great fit for each other. That there’s a mix of extraverts and introverts, that people are moving at the same speed towards their goals, that there’s nobody going to lag behind. That the abilities and skills within the group are actually well matched.

So if somebody’s a Spanish speaker and someone wants to learn Spanish, that’s a great connection. It doesn’t really have anything to do with the point of my business strategy Masterminds, but it’s a really helpful depth.

I aim that everybody in the group will have three things to give to a group and three things to get, minimum. Now, seeing as I put four to six people in a group that adds up very very quickly.

But that’s also why that multi-layered level produces Masterminds that stay together for a very long time. Plus not only do I curate well, but I look at the community and how we build that.

Make sure that if you join a Mastermind you are really looking at that kind of depth. Not just that people have goals and similar aims but that they’re actually, there’s this full holistic element to everything in the Mastermind. It really will make a difference.

Curation isn’t just about cocktail bars or cheeses because curation is kind of a word you see everywhere. It’s the key to my business and it’s the key to a great Mastermind.

Thanks for listening and I hope to see you soon.
